Supposedly the microscopic embryos in question (the ones
not okayed by Bush for federal funding) will remain frozen
or be discarded so I really don’t understand why stem cell
research has been politicized, but since it has been --
color me guilty for slipping one in a few days ago.
Someone wrote to me and posed the question: “Who defines
the greater good?” I would say the answer to that question
would depend upon whom you asked. If you were to ask the
President, he would say that he does. If you were to ask
the people who are suffering from debilitating diseases,
they would probably say that they do. If you were to check
the Constitution, you would find that we the people do. If
you were to ask “we the people” to define the greater
good, I think the majority would say whatever saves the
most lives. Finding a cure for even one of the targeted
diseases would clearly save thousands upon thousands of
lives over the course of mankind’s existence. It is
important to keep in mind that any scientific discovery
affects all of mankind, not just the country of its
origin.

Sorry for breaking the rules! I solemnly promise not to
ever do it again!
