Re: Happy New Year to All!

Hello to all those out there in Bomberville and a very "Happy New
Year" to all!!!!! I am sitting here getting ready to take down
Christmas decorations. I usually leave them until after Epiphany
but this year my husband has his next hip surgery coming soon so
I need to get the Christmas things all out of the way.

It is always a nostalgic time for me. I just finished watching
the Rose Parade and I have to say we were really spoiled down
in L.A. with the KTLA, channel 5, viewing with Stephanie Edwards
and Bob Eubanks. They have been such a great team and with no
commercials and all of their added input it is a terrific show.
I watched the whole thing on the computer, the 2nd time, and
realized how much the other channels cut out. So if you can find
them on your local channels, do try. I especially loved this year
the tribute to Roy Rodgers as I am sure most of you did. The
biggest equestrian group made up of all palominos to lead the
float, ever, they said. And did you catch that the really Trigger
and Bullet were on the float (preserved of course).

The December 27th entry by Don Sorenson brought back nostalgic
memories also. Did any of you ever make a snowman out of
sagebrush? We had a lot of it out in West Richland... so a
couple of years when we didn't have snow we made a sagebrush
one outside. And one year in California to show the kids what we
did... I found some sagebrush out in the desert and made one for
a centerpiece just like the pictures show by spraying it with the
canned snow and decorating it. And did you see all the things they
had planned for the kids as well as the adults? It looked like
they had parties and get-togethers every night.

Well, we have found a wonderful little community here in
Stevenson. WA with many people of like mindedness. It was so
fun going to many Christmas gatherings this year,(including the
Portland get-together and the Class of '63 Clambake) doing things
for those in need in the community with our Sweet Adeline and
church groups. We really had a wonderful Christmas. We only missed
two things this year, our grandkids and snow!

I hope you are all blessed with a Happy and good new year!

is shining, it is pouring rain and the river is flowing
West this morning and the clouds are blowing Northeast. It
is a beautiful day in the Gorge!

Re: The walk

A little birdie told me yesterday that one of our own delightful
Bomber-babes had slipped under the radar on the ol' b-day
scanner... I guess she thinks she's safe... ha ha ha... she and
her Bomber-guy are two people I search out every time I'm in
town... I spent a bunch a time at her guy's house back in the
day when his Bro, Dave ('65), was one of my close buds... haven't
seen hide nor hair of him since but I see alotta Doug ('66)...
So Donna PARDEE Strasser ('65), yer now on the "list"! Happy
birthday on the 1st! Hope yer special day wuz a goodun!! Me 'n'
the donut delinquents (hey Earl ('63), if it's good enuff fer the
President's wife, I can say it too... woooooooooooo hooooooooooo
mom would give me the ol' willow switch fer sayin it tho) made our
yearly run to Stateline... the weather was great for a change...
I took my little F-1 Pickup, as I had never taken it on the run...
because it's a pickup, there's no trunk so I didn't carry halfacar
in the emergency bag I always carry... just tools and a gallon of
water... After all the prizes were given away we packed up and
headed home... about 2/3s of the way home I smelled ani-freeze...
checked my six and it didn't look wet... then poof... now ya see
about 4-5 weeks ago I was putting in a new fan and figured I
should replace all the hoses... aw heck... they look fine...
duh... a teeny tiny little crossover hose blew and I had egg all
over my face... clamped the hose ends and headed home with one of
the boyz on my tail... got home fine and spent Monday morning
replacing all those hoses that looked just fine 5 weeks ago! I am
sure I've learned a lesson from this... uh huh... sure I have...
get ready fer 'nuther lane change (fergotta signal the last
one)... today, January 3, 2012, marks 29 years since one of my
neighborhood heroes left Bomberville. It warms my heart to know
that we live on regardless of what our body does or doesn't do...
I can't say I always KNEW that... I can say that I believed it...
but it has only been in the past year that I can say I know that
which is eternal in us remains always... and with that thought in
mind I'll Let Jack ('61) and Pat ('63) know that Chuck GARDINER
('63-RIP) is in my heart and remains my hero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!]

Happy New Year to all my Bombers everywhere-even Mike Davis ('74)!
I start all my mornings with my Sandstorm. I feel guilty using it
to plug my dates, but then again... I get people asking me to plug
my dates on here. I don't plug 'em all, just the decent venues, or
when I'm in an area I don't get to very often. Okay, here we go:

Jan. 14th The Seasons Performance Hall in Yakima
Jan. 19th The Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, CA with the legendary,
still handsome and can hit all the notes, Johnny Mathis.
Feb. 10th Valentine's Day Show Clover Island Inn in Kennewick (you
     guys can find Kennewick).
Feb. 16-18th Laugh's in Kirkland
Feb. 29th Benaroya Hall in Seattle with Joan Rivers (buckle up and
     beware).
March 2nd West Palm, FL with Johnny Mathis
March 4th Daytona Beach, FL with Johnny Mathis

Hope to see some of you in '12--even Mike.

Re: Vic MARSHALL ('71) Entry

Apparently, I am being called out by Mr. Vic Marshall. Vic claims
that the Sandstorm community doesn't hear from me much lately.
This is true for a number of reasons.

First of all, reading all of UPTON's ('74) free advertising on the
Sandstorm takes up a big portion of my day. I still think Brad
should look into that Rogaine spokesman position that is tailored
to him. It could turn in to a gold mine and it would free up some
reading time for all of us.

Secondly, much of my time is consumed with worry and stress about
my friend in Seattle, Mike FRANCO ('70). I occasionally will
bring up the Sandstorm and just about every time I'll run across
some of FRANCO's meaningless gibberish. Years ago when I was a
regular Sandstormer I recall FRANCO stating the same pointless
arguments and outlandish points of view. Summering in Hyannis Port
will do that to you!

Lastly, part of my recent depression is being overlook by the
Weight Watcher people and losing out to Charles Barkley for the
spokesman position. This is the one time that my granite physique
and drop-dead gorgeous good looks worked against me.

Anyway, Vic, other than what is stated above things are fine here.
Good to hear from you and take care.

-Mike DAVIS ('74)
