Re: Bomber-babe birthday time

How does this happen? I am sure that I just wished this Bomber-
babe an HB and here it is again... January 15th... what a day to
celebrate... When I think of this girl I think of... well... to
be honest I think of kisses and hugs and oooooooooooo la la...
but that's hardly appropriate inna Sandstorm post I mean really..
this is a G rated news paper and all... (do they still have G
ratings?)... but back to the wish post here... I mean not a
"wish" like we normally think of "wishes"... I mean if we were
gonna have whishes we'd be able to flash back in time and do
things just a tad differently wouldn't we... but I always wonder
if we could change things just what would we change and what
would it do to the here and now... so I guess I won't wish that
the B-day girl and I had dated and all cuz who knows if she'd
even be speaking to me now... where wuz I... Oh yeah... anyway,
this B-day girl reminds me of alla kids who were "bad influences"
on alla other kids they knew... come on... admit it... there are
at least a few of us out there that at some point or another were
banned from the block so to speak... I know where I wuz banned
and I'm sure you recall too... usually, though it wuz some mom or
dad's misconception of who and what we were fer reals and all...
OK, OK I admit it... sometimes they wuz right... but how many of
us were told this kid or that kid wuz a baaaaaaaaaaad influence
on us... lots, huh... for the most part it just wuz kids bein'
kids... Well, I recall how I met the b-day girl... met her
around 6th grade through her "bad influence" girl friend Laura
PARKER ('65)... now I gotta say... Parker's a lotta things but I
don't recall her ever being a bad influence... but somehow the
b-day girl's mom got it into her head that Laura wuz a bad
influence on the b-day girl... if the truth be known... I would
say it wuz Laura introducing the b-day girl to a buncha us '65ers
that wuz the bad influence... but hey... we all survived...
right... so I sure am glad that Laura brought her around cuz I
sure woulda hated to wait one more day to meet the b-day girl cuz
she has been ever so dear to me all these years... so before I
admit to something here for which the statute may not have run...
lemme say a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Ronna Jo LYNCH ('65) on January
15, 2012, her very special day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-David Rivers ('65) ~
PS: I put on my facebook a note about Jimmy HEIDLEBAUGH ('65)
aka the big fat liar having a heart attack... thanks to
everyone for the calls to him and the emails to the
hospital... I'm fairly certain he is back home now just being
the big fat liar he is! (I love you, Jimmy!)

Re: This Week's Birthdays

Well... a new week, another batch of Bomber birthdays to
recognize. Beginning today, Sunday, January 15th... we honor 2 of
the cool kids from the class... Nancy SCHILDKNECHT Pickett ('71)
and Mike FREEMAN ('71). Nancy is still one of the sweetest ladies
out there and I think she is still making going to HAPO
worthwhile. I have been trying to track down a current address
for the birthday boy since before our class reunion last summer.
The last address I have for him is in Mission Viejo but no luck
at that address. If anyone out there knows how to reach Mike
FREEMAN, I would appreciate a heads up.

I will do a quick nod to Jon ('71) and Tiena (NAB) Anderson, who
celebrate their 31st anniversary on Tuesday [1/17]. I remember
the wedding as if it were yesterday... in Spokane on a cold and
blustery day. Kind of surprised Tiena has managed to put up with
Jon all these years but they are a couple of my favorite people
and I hope they have a great day.

On Wednesday [1/18], my sister, Connie MARSHALL Riggs ('74)
celebrates her birthday. Even though she is in that class with
Brad UPTON ('74) and Mike DAVIS ('74), she turned out just fine.
And speaking of DAVIS. Wednesday is also the birthday of the
oldest of the DAVIS kids... Sheila DAVIS Galloway ('71). I don't
know how Sheila did it with the brothers she had to put up with
but I know she could be pretty darn tough when she needed to be.
BJ and Norm (RIP) had quite the clan to ride herd on. Hope BJ is
doing well and, if you read this Mike... please pass along my
regards.

Finally, Saturday [1/21] is Janey ZWICKER Thomas' ('71) birthday.
One of those darned West Richland girls... Janey was, and still
is, a wonderful lady. She and her husband Graig THOMAS ('69) have
had more than their share of challenges and adjustments to make
in their lives but are there every day for their family and back
in the Tri-Cities now, I think. I will be thinking of you on
Saturday, Janey.

That's all the birthdays. I had hoped someone would send in a
narrative on the reunion of the 1972 State Champion Bomber
Basketball team on January 6th but all I heard was that there was
a pretty good party at the Hanford House bar after the game. Any
additional info would be appreciated by us out-of-towners.

All for today... have to go out and contend with the massive
3/4" snowdrifts around my house. It has finally turned cold here
but the snow is still pretty much holding back. Remember when we
couldn't wait for snow? I am happy to wait until next year, thank
you. Have a wonderful week every one!!!
