Re: Driving In Snow

Sorry friends. But I must tell my Richland winter driving
experience. It was at night, heading west on Lee Boulevard,
approaching Wright Ave. I was alone on my '49 Ford. My driver's
license was less than six months old. It was icy. I was going
very slow. There was a car stopped at the intersection, a
Sudebaker with a very large (whatever it was) part protruding
from the center of the trunk. I pumped the breaks, but my Ford
would not slow down. I turned the wheel, but my Ford kept sliding
straight ahead. I was barely moving when I ran into the back of
the Stude. I recall thinking - I'm going to loose my license now
because I hit someone in the rear end. My car stopped. I opened
the door. The guy in the Stude rolled his window down and yelled,
"Thanks for the bump," and he drove off.

I don't recall how I got back home, but for a long time my
friends accused me of hitting a steel beam support at Zip's Drive
Inn and denting the front of my pretty '49. Sure wish I had that
car now.

Ok Maren, this is a little embarrassing since this is not from
Jamie WORLEY Hills (Magic Class of '64), but now writing as
"MOM".

As many of you have no clue, my son Justin (dad: Rob HILLS (Gold
Medal Class of '63) is a musician. So he is a legitimate first
generation Richland Bomber grand child. Of that fact, I am glad
to say he is quite proud.

After 20 years and millions of dollars, his first CD has been
released. The group is "Urban Seeds" and their album is called
"Grow". It is not Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Stones,
Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Sting or anyone else. If you graduated
before 1990 you probably will not understand the music - I had to
listen about 10 time before I recognized how good the music
really sounded. Anyway, your grand kids might love it!

The group has asked all their friends to put out as much publicity
as we can - so what a better way than through the most fabulous
group of people on the earth, Richland Bombers. If you like a bit
funk, rap, reggae, R&B, soul, this is just for you. As I said,
your grand kids might really go for it.

Kathie ROE Truax ('64) was nice enough to put it on her Facebook
page. Facebook is something not only do I not understand, but plan
to go to my grave without ever having been on. Email is tough
enough. So, let's hear it for http://urbanseeds.net/
There is a video of them doing one of their songs, "All In A Day"
on You Tube(?) some kind of tube, and it is pretty cute. Justin
is the drummer and the sound/recording engineer.

After living through this process, you have no idea how much I
respect those of you who make your living through the arts.
Congratulations! Putting a band together, keeping it together,
and finally getting a CD out in not easy, believe me. That is
from someone who has no musical ability and my only artistic
ability is that I can make a turkey out of tracing my hand. I
think I learned that at Sacajawea.

Thanks gang.
Jamie

Re: 1/20/12 Inquiry from Meg Davis (NAB) looking for my sister

Thanks Maren, I got this and called my sister and ended up
emailing Meg with Jan's email address and phone number.

This Sandstorm is so cool. We would have had no way to connect
without the Sandstorm.

Thanks again,
