He would have been 70 today, but was struck down by cancer in January, 1984 at age 39. Chuck spent 20 years in the Army he was a Sargent Major when he passed away. He was a outstanding soldier, husband, father, brother, friend, athlete, coach and referee. You are in my thoughts daily, your brother, Jack. -Jack GARDINER ('61) **************************************************************** **************************************************************** >>From: David RIVERS ('65) Re: my mind... maybe not such a terrible waste Oh sure... make points with Bomber-babes by fergetting their b- days... zooom that's the sound of Susan SHERWOOD's ('63) b-day zipping past me... one of my very favorite pictures in the '63 Colombian and I can't remember her b-day? I sure remember her in those cut-offs helping Joe KAVECKIS ('63) with his tie... arrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh... by the way, I must say that my lil Huntington Beach-boy buddy, Rick MADDY ('67) nailed it the other day with his description of the typical male mind when he responded to Ann BISHOP ('56) and her new name for me... ya see, it never really occurred to me to think of age as a factor in "the eternal chase"... Well, I mean sure I noticed... but I can't say I set my sights on just "younger babes"... With the exception of Bomber-babes, I prolly had no clue what their ages were... with Bomber-babes the class gave it away... but as Rick correctly noted, one day Babes popped into my mind and they pretty much occupied my thought from that day forth... Rick mentioned getting some "manly" advise from a '65er... I can tell ya his name, in fact... I won't tho I did mention it to the guy this summer when we were all home together... in Jr. Hi, it was our practice to meet up and Chuck TRUJILLO's ('65) in the morning before school to watch the three stooges before heading to Chief Jo... I mean we did this religiously, day in and day out... at one point, one of our number would meet us at school instead of at Chuck's... hmmmmm what in this very big world could be more portant than wooop wooop wooop!? We would later learn that "afternoon delight" inna morning was way more portant than nyuk nyuk nyuk... silly us... I DO remember quite well when I STOPPED asking "younger" women out... that was when I discovered that at a certain age they simply could not put a group of words together into a coherent sentence and that "ya know" and "well uh... actually" were the limit of conversation... I also remember the period in time that moms and daughters no longer had equal hold of my attention, and that daughters were just little girls and moms were "babes"... what a wonderful thing the male mind is... but if you Bomber-babes think we had only one track minds... yer oh so wrong... at least for me... cars and Rock n Roll took up at least 1 GB each in my little pea brain of 200 GBs... and so it is today that I am preoccupied by one a them wonderful Bomber-babes and wish HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Vicki SMITH ('63) on your special day, October 9, 2014!!!!!!!!!!! -David "Tooter" RIVERS ('65) **************************************************************** **************************************************************** >>From: Rick MADDY ('67) Paul Revere died October 4. Cancer. Not really sure how to feel about that, but sometimes I think I'm in the fourth quarter with only a couple minutes left to do something intelligent. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=136828639 -Rick MADDY ('67) **************************************************************** **************************************************************** Bomber Memorial >>George BARNETT ~ Class of 1963 ~ 1945 - 2014 Bomber Memorials **************************************************************** **************************************************************** That's it for today.
