Re: stuff happens

Thanks for all the emails on headaches... before I got that one,
for a day or two I noticed my left eye was really getting bad... my
lasik is now almost 15 years old so I figured it's time to have my
eyes checked... the day after my headache left, my vision improved
greatly so I wasn't in a big hurry... As the lead car on the trip
to the Hot Rod reunion, I had time to study my vision and decided
that "soon" I'll get those puppies checked. Because no one in
authority could answer any of our questions regarding parking the
next morning, we decided to head for Famoso drag strip at 5am to
make sure we got in the grove... assuming we could still park in
the grove... I stupidly accepted lead again as I've been more times
than the others... there was a ton of construction going on at
California and Easton where we stay so I made a wide turn so that
I would miss the construction and be in the left lane for the "U"
turn a block down... within mere seconds I found myself stranded
on an island where I managed to slide leaving all 4 wheels off the
ground... way too wide a turn and didn't see the island till
Gilligan and the Skipper came up to say "Hi"... at that point,
I knew my eyes are no longer working well enuff, specially at
night... tho I haven't had the car on the lift yet, it appears that
the only damage was cosmetic to the nose when I managed to get a
guy in a truck to pull me off the island... everything seemed fine
all weekend and on the drive home... tho I was a bit nervous about
driving back to the motel in the dark Saturday nite after the
event, we made it home this afternoon unscathed... Now common sense
shooda told me it's time to have my eyes checked a while back...
but hey... my right eye werks reel good... after remembering that
I started wearing glasses in the 6th grade, I calculated that my
lasik lasted just about as long as my real eyes did before I
started wearing glasses... so it only took eye strain leading to a
migraine and a little trip to the island to convince me it was
time... sometimes I think a little adult supervision might not be
such a bad thing... thank goodness that thought passes quickly...
speaking of eyes... the b-day kid had his go waco on him a few
years back, hisself... no fun at all... I think his have got a bit
better... if not... beware driving in Oly if you see a bright red
hot rod Mustang with white stripes headed your way... HAPPY
BIRTHDAY to my Marine buddy, Leo WEBB ('63) on his special day,
October 20, 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
