Hoorah! Lively Sandstorm yesterday... I enjoyed it all. But I do
suppose interest in the site will slowly fade away, since the
"younger folk" who graduated after the 1970s rarely participate.
I don't think it is a fault of the forum, but more of the
communications technology of the time... all the internet-
connected ways to rapidly communicate are more attractive to the
younger folks... our "kids" and grandkids are all over Facebook
and similar mediums...

I subscribe to other online and printed stuff such as the U.S.
Coast Guard Academy Alumni Assn. Nice magazine and online
version, but the younger officers (the last 25-30 years) don't
opt in to a significant degree... and the ranks of the older
graduating classes are thinning....

Oh, well...dinosaurs like me will hang in awhile longer.....

No precedent breaking item to report, and hardly even
controversial.

The time is right to celebrate the birthday of a Bomber Babe and
a Bomber. Now, I'm not going to say this is a May-December thing
because I don't think they even know each other. For starters,
she is a fellow classmate and he is a guy I met though Club 40.

One thing you should know about her is that we went to school
together, but not in the same classes. Didn't see her again until
R2K. Following that, she did show up for subsequent reunions and
occasional Club 40 Annual Meetings.

Now we will tip the ol' propeller beanie and quite possibly
shout our a "Happy Birthday!" for both Debbie HOLDEN ('54) and
John ADKINS ('62).

"Live long and prosper."

are back to sunny days and cool nights and not much snow
       in the mountains.

I love the Alumni Sandstorm. I don't think I've ever deleted
one of them. Even though I just skim some of the birthday and
anniversary greetings (unless it's one I sent, or for one of my
friends), I do look at every one. I enjoy connecting with friends
and acquaintances I haven't seen in decades (until the 50 year
Class of '62 reunion). I've also made some new friends through
the newsletter.

I wish I'd discovered Sandstorm earlier than I did. I would like
to have reconnected with my high school girlfriend Patty BEZZIO
('63-RIP), but she passed away in 1998 and I wasn't introduced
to Alumni Sandstorm until 2000. Therefore, I'm requesting
assistance of any of you, especially class of '63, who knew her
if you would let me know how she fared her senior year and
beyond, after her mother parted us. I've learned a bit about her
adult life, but I'd like to know more about what happened her
last year at Col-Hi.

Thank you, Maren. You are greatly appreciated.

Re: Donna BOWERS Rice ('63) comments about Peter BAUGHER ('63)
    2/28/15 Alumni Sandstorm

I remember Peter as a very intelligent and thoughtful person,
interested in a great variety of topics. Once at Col-Hi he,
Dianne KORNBERG ('63) and I were discussing religion, and he
made the statement he believed that people had created God and
religion because "they felt a need for them." I don't say this
to start a flame war on religion, but to illustrate that he was
a thoughtful person. Perhaps in his conversation with Donna he
was being rhetorical, or playing devil's advocate?

Thanks to the many alum who have defended this wonderful daily
walk through childhood and nostalgia. I agree with several other
people... I am a political junkie and have my very own soap box.
This is the one place where I can read about what went on, be
reminded of gentler times and smile at the success of our crowd.
I'll save my politics for other, more caustic sites.

Thanks, Mate, for keeping a lid on things and for the work you do!
