Re: Spalding Pals

Having Terry DAVIS ('65) staying over on Birch has been a boon to
me this last few months... I get the scoop as it occurs... He let
me know in an email that came after I logged off on the evening of
3/19 to let me know that my Spalding "BFF", Craig DAVIS ('65),
was going in to Kadlec on the morning of 3/20 to have a triple
by-pass... so natch I immediately gotta hold of our friendly Nurse,
Ceci BENNETT ('65) to get a room number etc. for Craig... she sent
it right back and I've called a few times but no answer so far...
Spoze they want him to rest up and stuff... now ta get the picture,
ya gotta know the history between us... we weren't just best pals,
we were inseparable... If I gotta skinny white belt, Craig got a
skinny white belt, If Craig wore his collar up, I wore mine up (and
we did)... I wuz gonna send the 5th grade picture with this, but
Craig is absent from the pic... I remember us having matching kinda
nylon shirts with silver thread running thru the shirts so they
shimmered like something Elvis would wear (they also itched like
crazy)... we had white bucks and the whole 9 yards... in 5th grade
our teacher used to hit us with a rubber hose... the same teacher
used to come over to my house and cry on my mother's shoulder...
the teacher was deaf as a poker and could never really tell who was
causing the problems (what difference did it make... every kid in
the class was a died-in-the-wool "hood")... I told my mom and she
simply said if she got it wrong on one day it should count for the
day before when I got away with whatever I happened to do... not
what I wanted to hear... soooooo, we went to Craig's mom and told
her my mom was going to the principal, would she do the same... she
was glad to oblige and the rubber hose was removed from our
teacher's possession... naturally the teacher told my mom and there
was hell to pay when I got home that afternoon... I could go on and
on about the things Craig and I did in those Spalding days, but you
get the picture... by calling Craig to mind, I don't mean to omit
the other life long friends from Spalding... they know who they
are... but if any of them is about to have heart surgery just lemme
know and I'll tell stories on you too... Craig is in room 317 so if
ya getta chance to go by... tell him I'm thinking of him and I
really did call!!!!!!!!

GET WELL SOON, CRAIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
