That's right "kiddies"; it's Birthday Time! Actually, it should be a Bomber Birthday for one particular member of The Class of '54. I knew this guy back in the day. That being said, I hadn't laid eyes on him until The Class celebrated the 60-year reunion last September. Heard that he had turned accountant, oh well, at least he's not a "legal eagle". Nor do I think he had an "Excellent Adventure" with Wayne FISHER ('54). On that somewhat dull note, it's time to tip the ol' propeller beanie and shout "Happy Birthday!" to Garth WHEELER ('54). Keep workin' at it, guy, we'll hit 80 eventually. -Bob Carlson, aka Mike CLOWES ('54) ~ Mount Angel, OR where the weather continues. *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: Ann BISHOP Ousley ('56) With the talk of some of the commercials on T.V., I'm glad I only watch the news on secular T.V.!!! DISH gives me a lot of Christian networks that DON'T assault my eyes, ears or senses! -Ann BISHOP Ousley ('56) *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: Louise HARTCORN Graversen ('63) Re: "Mara, Daughter of the Nile" Thank you for the response to the location of the book, "Mara, Daughter of the Nile". I found the book. As I said I was looking for the book for a friend's 70th birthday. After the plea was put out I heard for Susan KINNEY Wood ('63) who said "Louise, you already gave me that book. Hard copy, cover copyright 1953 and all"! So much for my memory. It turns out that while being a school librarian for my entire career I had run across the book in a school and "borrowed" it for Susan. Happy Birthday June 30 to my dear friend, Susan. -Louise HARTCORN Graversen ('63) *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: Roy BALLARD ('63) Re: trees and shrubs. David, the pic that Shirley sent is still there, BUT, the shrubs that were along the fence that borders Lee st. were removed, because the BPA said that they were on their property. Well many years ago the Bomber Boosters, my wife Nancy and I, The Browns (Helen and Norris), The Beckmans, Lemlers, June Neilsen, the Chandlers and quite a few others transported the shrubs from Job's, way out in the blocks, (their new location as of then) brought them to Bomber Bowl and planted all of them, but guess what??????? BPA paid for all of them. And to make matters worse, they have now planted new shrubs inside the fence, where the others were located. -Roy BALLARD ('63) and Nancy ERLANDSON Ballard ('67) ~ Richland *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: David RIVERS ('65) Re: We so damn cool Well, I'd say at least half of us gave info on the daughter of the Nile book... it shall never be lost again... till the next time... .Special thanks to ECB3 ('63) for his helpful directions to the free road to the 17 mile drive and for correcting my fo paw... Earl is good at that and since I hang with his sis ('65) he always knows where to find me on short notice... then again, when he's in town I know he's hangin' with Joe FORD ('63) and the rest of that biker gang... instead biker colors, however, they were bright spandex colors... funny this morning on the way to the delinquents a Mongol passed me wearing what appeared to be brand new colors... I was surprised to see him alone given the friendly relationship between the Mongols and the Angels and was of the misinformed belief that they were not to be on Nevada Highways after the last fight in Laughlin... his bottom rocker simply read "Nevada"... Did you know that before he moved back to Washington, Jimmy HEIDLEBAUGH ('65) was in the local Hell's Angel's house band? True story! He hadda ball... much as I did back in '68 when the Angels took me in along with a whole bunch of returnees... best crapes I ever had was during that stay... even better than the ones at the old Farmer's Market in L.A... I have two Angel's rings but never wear them out of respect for the rules... ok I put them on at home now and then... my favorite memories are of a little room jam packed full of guys and gals watching "Laugh in" on Monday nights... what a trip... I spoze if you are interested, I've probably covered the "Bomber-Bowl Tree" pretty well and if you ain't interested it's called "overkill" but Beej ('65) sent me his picture which I will enclose to show that the tree is nowhere near the danged power lines... http://AlumniSandstorm.com/Xtra/RIV/150517-tree.jpg I did notice however that the tree appears to be of a size that it could have grown from a seed about the time I grageated, so I am afraid my story of the "kissing tree" would be easy to refute... plus I contacted alla Bomber-babes I ever kissed in Richland and both of them denied I had kissed them... actually they asked me who the hell I was and why was I spreading lies about them... nice to be remembered so fondly... also, I remember when I first got a computer, today's Bomber b-day babe was the very first Bomber I ever contacted... I don't remember how I got her email address... saw it somewhere and her address fascinated me so I emailed her and told her I was a Soph when she was a Sr. She responded by asking who the hell I was and... well not quite but close... It reminded me of how insignificant Sophs are in the High School scheme of things... that is unless you are a Bomber-babe and then guys like Jimbeaux ('63) notice you right outa the gate... doesn't work so well for guys, tho I do know a '63 Bomber-babe who dated Terry DAVIS ('65), but my lips are sealed... the highest I could achieve were juniors... ahhhhhhh yute! Not that I wasn't very fond of those juniors (glad I remembered to add that!)... well, the time has come... coo coo ka choo and all that... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Betsy FOX ('63) on your special day, May 17, 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -David RIVERS ('65) *************************************************************** Bomber Memorial >>Joe ESCHBACH ~ Class of 1972 ~ 1953 - 2015 Bomber Memorials *************************************************************** ************************************************************** That's it for today.
