Re: Losing Bombers

Is it just my foggy imagination or are
we losing fellow Bombers at an abnormal rate? Seems there has
been hardly a day the past few months without the daily comments
concluding with an obituary... and many of those passing way
before their time. While agree getting old isn't for sissies,
this has just naturally got to stop. Y' hear!

Re: Mt. St. Helens - 35 years ago today

I posted this photo 10 years ago and went looking for the link;
found out that I also posted it five years ago.

We had been up quite late the night before. I woke up and seeing
how dark it was at first wondered if we had slept all day.
Looked out bathroom window of the "B" house and it was dark
except at the horizon where it was light, looked out the front
door window and again was dark except for the horizon. Got my
little "Japanese transistor radio" and only the normal stuff was
on; as I started changing stations I hit one that said "... Mt
St Helens..." Heard only those words, turned it off and got
dressed in a hurry, went outside and a young lady probably high
school age came out of one of the houses across the street and
said something like, "This is cool, I wonder if it has
anything to do with the mountain." A man not too far away said,
"Haven't you heard." Ran back in and got my camera. For as dark
as it was and how big an area it covered, it is amazing how fast
it moved, as I only took four photos. Also, it had to be at
least a half hour after the cloud passed and the sun was
shinning bright before any ash fell to the ground. If we had not
been up so late the night before we probably would have gone to
church in Kennewick and I would have no pictures of it.

The ash cloud from 1413 McPherson, Richland, WA on May 18, 1980.

If I ever find the negative I will rescan it from the negative.
It was scanned from a print and I do have a better scanner now.

Re: Lonesome, Ornery, and Mean

Well, Roy BALLARD ('63) put the tree thing in perfect
perspective... gubmint peoples n other peoples' money... what
a waste... but today I ain't got no room fer bein' lonesome,
ornery, n mean... well I guess I can always be ornery tho I try
not to be mean if I kin help it... but I ain't never lonesome...
I mean with all these peoples occupyin' my little pea brain I
always got plenty a company... it's the voices that keeps me
sane or as Waylon said inna nuther song... "I've always been
crazy but its kept me from goin' insane"... and today I gots
four good Bomber friends to celebrate... oh by-the-way...
Craig DAVIS ('65) has a staph infection that requires him to
spend hospital time (a little each day fer antibiotics) for
FORTY-FIVE days... arrrrrrrrrgh... stay outa them hospitals if
you can... anyway I've known these Bombers (one babe) for a very
long time... one since before I wuz say 3 and one was my very
first date... I'm hopin' they have wonderful days and weeks
and years and and and... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Jack KEENEY ('65),
Lyman POWELL ('65), Kerry PITMAN ('65), and Caroline STANFIELD ('66)
on your special day, May 18, 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
