There were 6 Richland Bombers--Roy and Pat Gier West (both '49), Ginger WARFORD ('55) and 2 others from '54 whose names I don't remember. The show was great and we ate delicious food at Anthony's, overlooking Spokane Falls. Wonderful! This trip was through Richland and Pasco Parks and Rec. Progress continues on the new Lewis and Clark school. Landscaping is completed on the Jadwin side with lots of concrete and black top on the Downing side. They managed to save some of the old trees, which I think is nice. I've been told the old building will be torn down. The move apparently starts as soon as school gets out for the summer. New construction going on at Jason Lee on the Van Giesen side. Not sure what that is all about--looks like maybe "permanent" portables??? Surely not! The "M" Hotel is up and running again. Lots of cars parked there so maybe business is good. I guess Sterling's on GWWay won the battle with City Hall to build closer to the River, on their same lot. Good for them! Yesterday (5/30) I went to Malley's Pharmacy up on GWWay and the sign is gone. Other stuff being sold. Now I wonder where I'll get the Methyl-Guard my Neurologist recommends. They close at 1:00 on Saturdays, so I don't know if they still carry that product. Seems to me I heard that Densow's pharmacy has closed. This morning I took my sister-in-law (NAB) to the Library to check out more audio books and they don't open until 1 pm on Sundays and are closed on Sunday in the summer. Looked online and didn't see a clarification. Is it Summer, yet? Weather-wise, yes. Per calendar, no. I'm sure this is not all I had in mind, but will close for now. Bomber regards to each and all, -Marilyn "Em" DeVINE ('52) ~ in hotter and hotter Richland *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: Derrith PERSONS Dean ('60) Re: for prayer no tears... last Monday my sons took me to Kadlec where I woke up Tuesday... alarms on my bed... my sodium level was down to 118 not good... over the next few days my sodium was built up to 135. I was sure that they just grageated the other day... but for me the other day can be two days ago or 50 years ago... time has no true dimension for me... it just is... the other day someone posted a picture... actually two pictures on face book... one was some older babes and the other was high school girls and the caption read something about how to each other we haven't changed at all... that's the way I feel about the B-day Bomber-babe... it's funny how I look at my friends and see that tho we have NEVER grown up... we have hanged in some ways... I enjoy the way I feel great respect and am so very proud of who we have each become... not "what" we became like as in what we have done for a living... that stopped being important about our 25 year reunion and I assume it was the same for most of us... at that point we just became the friends we were inna olden days... I always say we kinda reverted back to third grade or maybe even kinnygarden... no more I have, I am, I did... but just kinda "hey wanna go play on the dike and drink water outa somebody's hose when we get thirsty"... the Bomber-babe is one side of a couple that I cherish greatly... always thoughtful... surprising me with cards now and again from the North Shore and just always being the kind of people we all hoped we would be when we... uhhhhhhhh... got a little older... not that she isn't every bit the babe she was in school... of course she is... Bomber-babes Rule! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Carolyn ROE ('63) on your special day, June 1, 2015!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -David RIVERS ('65) *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: Shirley COLLINGS Haskins ('66) Re: RHS Softball takes 2nd in State Congratulations to the RHS Softball team which took 2nd in State at Spokane's Merkel Sports Complex on Saturday. The Bombers knocked off Battle Ground 5-4 and Yelm 13-10 in Friday's games, setting up the semi-final against 2012 champion Woodinville. They beat the nationally ranked Woodinville by a score of 9-7. Then lost to Tahoma in the Championship game by a score of 9-1 taking 2nd place. Re: Rainbow After visiting Einan's at Sunset on Memorial Day we witnessed this beautiful sky with a rainbow over the Columbia River about 8:30 pm. Our weather has been in the 90s but is expected to cool down to the high 70s on Tuesday. http://AlumniSandstorm.com/Xtra/Col/150601-Rainbow.jpg -Shirley COLLINGS Haskins ('66) ~ Richland *************************************************************** *************************************************************** That's it for today.
