Alumni Sandstorm ~ 06/09/15 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2 Bombers sent stuff: David RIVERS ('65) Shirley COLLINGS ('66) *************************************************************** *************************************************************** BOMBER BIRTHDAY Today: Carol BISHOP ('57) BOMBER BIRTHDAY Today: Pat MURPHY ('63) BOMBER BIRTHDAY Today: Sally BENNETT ('71) BOMBER ANNIVERSARY Today: Dennis HASKINS & Shirley COLLINGS ('66) BOMBER CALENDAR: Richland Bombers Calendar Click the event you want to know more about. *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: David RIVERS ('65) Re: Fast times at Ridgemont High Don't know if I have ever seen the movie but I love the title... much like Frank Zappa's Memories of El Monte (tho I do love that by the Penquins) it just oooozes our memories of Richland... There are very, very few things I love nearly as much as my trips home... but the Rat Fink Reunion is one of them... every year, 100s of Finksters head for the Roth (Big Daddy Ed Roth) House in Manti, Utah... Kenny and Jennifer DAME ('68/NAB but is in spirit) got the opportunity to share the fun with us for a day this year... tho they were on a schedule, I did manage to introduce them to most of the artists (many more that once... ok so I'm getting old) and they were able to see the museum and finale car show, tho the tour of the house will hafta wait till next year... My daughter, Sarah, made her second visit by popular demand of Finkland and a great desire on her part (photo of us on our way enclosed)... http://AlumniSandstorm.com/Xtra/Riv/150609-WithSarah.jpg the only way to describe it is as a "Famblie Reunion" only one at which everyone likes everyone... no grudges and no egos... just pure fun... some of these kats and kitties are famous for their work world wide... but everyone is equal at the reunion... Ilene Roth and her famblie make us all welcome... we are fed and looked after at every turn... this year we had 70 artists make the trip from all over the US and Canada... for a better look check out my face book page... Jen and Ken were welcomed as new famblie members outa the gate and managed to collect some nice memorabilia... if you have never been to a Rat Fink Reunion you have no idea what you are missing... this was our thirteenth at the Roth house... Ed started it as a Christmas Party for the artists back inna day in L.A... but when he passed Ilene moved it to the house and Moon (nka Moon Eyes) took over and continued the Christmas event which is pretty darned awesome in it's own right... Chico makes a point of thanking every single vendor personally as the show comes a close... The moment I leave the motel at Manti, I experience a home sickness that, previously, I only experienced when leaving Richland... well, after the L.A. Roadster Show the weekend of the 19th... next stop Richland and Cool Desert Nights (CDNs)... For alla '65ers out there: if you have an idea of where to have the Saturday party lemme know... it is getting close... Brian JOHNSON ('65) and Shirley COLLINGS ('66) advised me that the "kissing tree" will remain in place and only pruning will be required... I am sorry for the Collings' family's loss of brother Jim ('62-RIP)... Speaking of loss... today I remember the birth of a favorite Bomber-babe... tho I was in her sister, Nina's class ('65), this babe and I became very close friends over the years... she is missed but always in our hearts... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Patti JONES ('60 RIP) on your special day, June 9, 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -David RIVERS ('65) *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: Shirley COLLINGS Haskins ('66) Re: Tree in Bomber Bowl http://AlumniSandstorm.com/Xtra/Riv/150516-tree.jpg After speaking with Craig Fusoral with the BPA I found that David RIVERS' ('65) favorite tree will remain in its current location after only being trimmed. Re: Jim COLLINGS ('62-RIP) http://alumnisandstorm.com/Obits/pics15/RIP62CollingsJim15.htm Thank you to all who have written in the Sandstorm, sent me emails or cards regarding the passing of my brother, Jim. I appreciate hearing your memories and stories. Jimmie was a wonderful man who will be deeply missed by many. -Shirley COLLINGS Haskins ('66) ~ from a scorching Richland where temperatures have been hitting 100° for a few days *************************************************************** *************************************************************** That's it for today.
