I live just north of Tucson, AZ. While walking a neighbor's dog last night, I met a man also out walking and had a short conversation. What a coincidence when I found that he had recently moved into the same retirement community, having moved here from Seattle. I mentioned that I grew up in the Tri-Cities and had just returned from a visit up north in May. After mentioning the Tri-Cities, he said he had lived in Richland a few years. He said he had attended Sacajawea Elementary until after the third grade when his parents moved them to Prosser. ( I also attended Sacajawea! But about 5 years ahead of him!) You never know when you may run into another Richlander! -Bonnie STEEBER Frasca ('57) ~ a week of 3 digit weather coming up. The beginning of our long, hot summer! Looking forward to next week's drive up to Bend, OR, with my husband (NAB) and enjoying cooler temps for a few days! *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: Dennis HAMMER ('64) Re: The Fat Man bomb http://AlumniSandstorm.com/Xtra/Ham/150614-FatManREPLICA.jpg At the Warbirds airshow Pasco Airport Saturday they had on display a replica of the Fat Man bomb. I guess they felt the necessity to put on the sign attached to the bomb fins that it was "inert." I wondered how big a 14 pound sphere of Plutonium would be so I looked it up. It is 3.5 inches. Tri-City Herald has a short video on their YouTube page featuring one of the men who built the replica. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rua9fHfYEw4#t=27 -Dennis HAMMER ('64) *************************************************************** *************************************************************** >>From: David RIVERS ('65) Re: I think summer is here So it is almost 6 PM and 102° outside... been lots of clouds the last few days which has made it... well downright yukky... some grown up told me not to say Yukky one time... don't remember who... beats what I said when I was even younger... According to my mom, I used to say "damn bitches" a great deal before kinnygarden... finally she had enough and said I should say "gosh darn it" I then took up telling people that "I used to say damn bitches but now I say gosh darn it"... ahhhh yute... Two cool dudes havin' their birthdays today... One I've known all my life and the other I've met in the last maybe ten years... but great guys both... Before I make the announcement of the HBs, I've got good news and not so good news... Craig DAVIS ('65) is feeling better and will be heading for some kind of WW II plane show at the Pasco Airport with Terry DAVIS ('65), Carl BEYER ('65), Bobby CUMMINGS ('65) and a few others... go Craig! Kathie MOORE Adair ('69) has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has an appointment mid- week. Prayers are welcome!
