Normally I would be trying to think of something humorous, but
not on this occasion. It wasn't too long ago that we learned of
this Bomber's passing. I can't lay any claim to great friendship
with him; but we were fellow classmates and we knew each other.
We might have even had a class or two together.

A ceremonial tip of the ol' propeller beanie and a "Happy
Birthday" salute is for Bob MEAKINS ('54-RIP). "May the wind
always be at your back; the road rise softly to meet your feet
and may you be in heaven a half-hour before the devil knows
you're dead."

      are awaiting the weekend monsoon.

Re: New England Fall Foliage Fun

Lyndy WHEELER Myers ('62) & I lived at Loring Air Force base in
northern Maine from '81-'85 while I was an Air Force pilot. One
of my last flights was in a small jet trainer. At the peak of
leaf color the instructor and I soared, rolled, zoomed, and
dived over the forests and potato fields of northern Maine.
Imagine a panoramic, upside down view of hundreds of square
miles of the world's most beautiful hardwood forests in full
fall fire, then diving past the flaming tree tops into a potato
field, then pulling Gs to clear the brilliant orange-red, yellow
wall at the other end.

Only a few, flashing moments, but better than a couple of hours
in bumper-to-bumper traffic on a New England scenic highway.

Had to laugh when I read David RIVERS' ('65) entry about being
called by his "full name". My mom did the same thing and always
knew I was in BIG trouble when she'd yell, "LINDA LOU REINING".
I knew I better come, running. *grin* I'm sure we all had the
same experience... got to know a lot of middle names of my
friends, when I'd hear their moms yell. *grin*

-Linda REINING ('64) ~ weather is getting cooler in Kuna, ID and
I'm loving it... am keeping fingers crossed that we get
       another White Christmas, this year.
