Rosy's is closed!! They do not know when or if they will open again, so we have made other plans for our birthday party on Saturday, September 10th. We will meet in the restaurant at the Richland Red Lion at NOON!!! We are very sad to see this wonderful restaurant, Rosy's, suffering problems that have led them to this point. We can only hope they can recover and serve the public again soon!!! The restaurant at the Red Lion has closed to the public, serving lunch, so they will allow us to use it and we will be able to buy our lunch with a limited "'50s" hamburger or hot dog and fries for a flat fee of $10. Drinks will be extra!! We will have a beautiful birthday cake and hopefully be able to get a lot of pictures around the cake!!! I would appreciate hearing from those of you who have not notified me whether or not you will be there, so the chef knows how much to plan for. Since they are not normally open for lunch anymore, they will be only supplying this for our class. Thankfully, they will NOT charge us a fee to use the space!! So far, I figure we will have at least 50 classmates there!! Even if you are not attending Club 40 that weekend, please come to our 80th BIRTHDAY PARTY!!! Re: Club 40 annual meeting/election To the Board Members of Club 40, we will be meeting at 10am on Saturday, September 10th in the Red Lion Lounge for our annual meeting. This will be a short meeting and primarily we will cover our election of 2016-2017 Officers. Please plan to attend!!! You will be voting for new Officers! Re: Club 40 website You can now go to Club 40 website and find all of the Attendees who have pre registered to attend our celebration next weekend, September 9th and 10th, 2016!!! There are 182 registered for Friday and 147 registered for Saturday. Remember, we will have a fun Raffle both nights and one of those nights we will have a very special, hand carved wooded sculpture like we had a few years ago!!! Donated by the husband of one of my classmates, 1954!!! Dale does a wonderful job and everyone will want this!!! This year has gone by so fast and can hardly wait for our fun weekend, September 9th and 10th!!! Registration table will open at 4:30 PM to pick up your name tags, both nights!! See you there!!! -Marilynn WORKING Highstreet ('54) ~ Pasco Club 40 President ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: Stephanie DAWSON Janicek ('60) Re: Tri-City Sports Scores To: Roy BALLARD ('63) I am frequently irritated by the absence of scores in the TCHerald from the previous evening. I learned that the paper is now printed in Yakima, not Kennewick, and that the deadline is much earlier than it used to be for printing scores and other news. This may be one of the reasons that you were directed to the online Herald for scores. I assume that they can be updated on line long after the printed paper has been "put to bed." I also understand that the paper is struggling to keep going at all, which is why it is so much thinner than it used to be and why certain features are skimpier than they used to be. I HATE being directed to the Internet for details on anything (call me old fashioned) and am grateful that we have a paper at all. Many have folded (no pun intended). -Stephanie DAWSON Janicek ('60) ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: Helen CROSS Kirk ('62) To: David DOUGLAS ('62) Re: Quonset Huts I don't have any photos of the Quonset Huts, but I was there with you. I had Mrs. Bern out there for homeroom, I believe. I was there in the mornings... I think I remember. -Helen CROSS Kirk ('62) ~ Hope, IN ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: Duane LEE ('63) To: Roy BALLARD ('63) The Tri-Cycle Herald is printed in Yakima now... then shipped to the Tri-Cities. They shut off a lot of news about evening games so that they can get to press on time. Many times you will see "So and so team was leading 14 to 10 when we went to press, read final results in tomorrow's paper." We get our paper delivered as early as 3:30 AM. The only reason that I continue so subscribe is for the obits just to make sure that I am not in them. -Duane LEE ('63) ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: Betti AVANT ('69) Re: scores To: Roy BALLARD ('63) There weren't a lot of scores in Saturday's TCH as they completed after the paper went to press. That's why you never see a Mariner night game score if it's on the west coast. It seems they could go to press a little later but guess then it would make it late coming in the morning. -Betti AVANT ('69) ~ from cooler Richland ************************************************************* ************************************************************* not a memorial - only INFO today >>Leona ARRESTOUILH Butler ('43-RIP) Viewing: TOMORROW: Tuesday, September 6, 2016, 3pm to 7pm Rosary 7pm, Prosser Funeral Home Mass of Christian Burial; Wednesday, September 7, 2016, 10am Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
