On the other hand, this Bomber didn't crash the "Big" birthday party, cuz he was invited. Sorry to say that some didn't show up, but those who did had a good time. I'm sure Marilynn ('54) or someone will furnish pictures in a later issue. All that aside, a tip of the ol' propeller beanie and a "Happy Birthday!" is in store for Dave KOEPPEN ('54). -Bob Carlson, aka Mike CLOWES ('54) ~ Mount Angel, OR where preparations are going forward in order to be ready for Oktoberfest this weekend. Who knows, I may even see a Bomber or two there. ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: Jack GARDINER ('61) My days with home delivery of the Tri-City Herald are numbered... when my subscription is due for renewal I'm cancelling it. If I wanted my print news a day late I would live on the East Coast. Some days the Herald has only one section because of the 9pm curfew. When I grew up there were Little League, Pony League, Colt League scores. I have a whole scrapbook of articles about me, that my dad saved for me. My kids and grandkids enjoy reading them. The children growing up here now won't have this pleasure. I'm off my soapbox now... -Jack GARDINER ('61) ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: David RIVERS ('65) Re: What a guy Now it's no secret that the Bomber-b-day guy and I go pretty far back... his mom and pop are two of my favorite people inna whole wide world... he was pretty much in tow at all events and his name ended in an "ie" instead of an "en"... He had far more power than he realized... on one occasion we all headed to the Shilo one Sunday for breakfast before everyone left and went on their own ways... when the hostess spotted the B-day guy she immediately told us he could not have breakfast with us as the room in which they served breakfast/brunch was used to serve licker at night... any licker inna room at the moment? Nooooooooooo... hmmmmm... any chance of somebody having a drink for breakfast? I spoze but not in that room... so all 10-15 of us got up and marched out... we have never returned as a group tho I will admit that HEIDLEBAUGH ('65), Cecilia ('65) and I did join Ellen ('63) and Mary Lou ('63) there one time a few years back... I have watched this Bomber grow and become a man (well man as in physically... I mean he is a Bomber...) in his own right and have tried to keep up with his toys and joys on face book... but I will admit he has outgrown much of my understanding by leaps and bounds... he and his dad still do lots together as I do with my Sarah... does my heart good... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Steven ADAIR ('08) on your special day, September 13, 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!! -David RIVERS ('65) ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: Shirley COLLINGS Haskins ('66) Re: Chelsea McCLAMMER ('12) ~ 9/12/16 Tri-City Herald "Chelsea McCLAMMER ('12) of the United States finishes third in the women's wheelchair race in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, in Chicago." Re: Years of Hanford history moving ~ 9/11/16 Tri-City Herald "Thousands of Hanford artifacts are being moved into Richland where they can be put on public display." Re: Federal Building DOE Employees ~ 9/12/16 Tri-City Herald "Moving about 350 Department of Energy and subcontractor employees out of the Richland Federal Building to space being vacated by other Hanford employees is not intended to save federal dollars, DOE officials say. It's about improving communications among workers at two Hanford agencies." -Shirley COLLINGS Haskins ('66) ~ Richland where the annual Christ the King Sausage Fest will be this weekend. ************************************************************* ************************************************************* That's it for today.
