Re: 14th Annual Holiday Bazaar

Richland Seniors Association is holding their Holiday Bazaar

WHEN: Saturday, November 12
WHERE: Richland Community Center
TIME: 9:00am to 3:00pm

There are almost 50 vendors and we take up most of the Richland
Community Center. We also will have a sandwich/hot dog lunch
available for purchase, and the Senior Association will have
a bake sale table. New this year will be a "break room" with
tables and chairs for eating your lunch (either bought from us
or bring your own) or to just sit and rest before visiting more
booths. We have lots of nice Bazaar yard signs out around the
area and hope for a large crowd. Please come and join us!

For information, please call me, Betty, at 509-946-5385.

Hope to see you there!

Larry, appreciate your detailed response however, I was only
concerned that carrying a 6" tube in your pocket might create
an incorrect impression. ;) :) :) :) :) :)

I was just sort of watching one of the many already Christmas
programs on TV, and I noticed that the female lead in
"Moonlight over Manhattan" (a Hallmark show), Tricia Helfer,
reminded.me so much of Mrs. Larry Riggs, Lorraine. It's the
character's positive attitude toward everything that reminds
me so much of Lorraine. She was that way toward all of us in
Koinonians at CUP. We young adults thought we were so smart and
so unique, and she never discouraged us, nor did Larry. Quite
the opposite... they encouraged us to stick to our hopes and
dreams, and to keep trying to reach our goals.

Hard to believe she left us 10 years ago... still as sweet and
positive at 96... and Larry left us a few years later, near 100
years old... sadly I could not make his birthday or funeral.

Nancy RIGGS Lawrence ('51): I'll always think your parents were
so wonderful, and I feel so blessed to have known them!!

-Helen CROSS Kirk ('62) ~ Hope, IN where it's finally getting
colder and we are expecting our first frost any day now,
but we are still getting lots of sunshine which we love!!

Re: SEMPER FI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it's been a couple a years since this naive, dumb-assed
long haired hippy freak (can ya be a hippy if yer as
conservative as Goldwater?) (Actually my hair was only about as
long as the Beattles and mainly for lack a moola... but way too
long to wear to boot camp) stood on them yeller feetprints...
as a result of my lack of haircut money the Orders for everyone
flying in from Seattle were given to me to carry... as we got
off the bus the DI mentioned that some of us might be carrying
orders... anticipating his next statement to make a few early
points I stepped up and held out the orders... what happened
next is a bit of a blur... I recall the words "maggot" and "out
a formation" as his fist hit my face and landed me on the
sidewalk... it was a toss up whether to lay there and play dead
or get up... I got up... in a split second I knew I would be
the most average recruit MCRD ever saw... plenty of time to
make rank later... let some other fool be Honor man (ended up
E-6 in four... when I got my warrant, I asked the XO if he
wanted to make me a 22 year old Gunny if I shipped over... they
had offered me E-6 if I shipped over... I guess they forgot to
tell the Commandant... )... korse that and 5 smackers gets me a
cuppa coffee today, no refills... so no matter how long it has
been... a Marine is a Marine is a Marine... and we Bombers got
some damn good ones... On another note, we have produced some
fine athletes as well... one a them has a b-day today... I
remember the first time I met him... when he came to the door
my eyes met his belt buckle... Bo Belinsky told me he met the
b-day Bomber and Wilt the Stilt at the same time... now Bo
hadda be 6'5" at least... he said he felt like he was between
two redwoods... The b-day Bomber and I got close for a while
and corresponded a bit... he even sent me a baseball
autographed for the "auction" at R2K... there was no auction
and that fact pains Gary WEBB ('64) to this day... soooooooooo
HAPPY BIRTHDAY USMC and all my fellow MARINES and Gene CONLEY
('48) on your special day, November 10, 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll let some other Marine remind us of how many years it has
been since 1775... untouched by progress!

Re: All-Bomber lunch venue change

I wasn't going to answer as to why the change of location of
the All-Bomber lunch. Sometime this spring we learned the [JD
Diner] manager needed heart surgery and he and his wife chose
to return to Korea (their native country) to have it done for
money reasons.

We were introduced to the new manager with the guarantee we
would still be welcome and everything would remain as it had
been. Numerous items that some of us enjoy have been removed
from the menu and they cut back their hours (I think it's since
gone back to the way it was hour-wise). Last month the 8
turnout was a good one since spring, one month there were 3 of
us. It was decided perhaps a change of venues would bring out
more people and it will go back to being fun once again. I,
myself, only started coming when I moved back to Richland 3+
years ago and really enjoy the friendships I've made.

As to health issues it seems we all have some going on and when
someone asks how are you doing you (or I anyway) let them know
everything is going along quite well. I hope I haven't rocked
the boat on this.
