We owe much to all who served for the freedoms and liberties which we enjoy in still the greatest country in the world. Thank you to all veterans!! -Curt DONAHUE ('53) ~ Pasco where the sun is shining and it is in the 60s ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: Bob Carlson, aka Mike CLOWES ('54) Well, I don't think there are many WWI guys around who graduated from Richland/Columbia/Richland, the exception being McCoy ('02). Probably one of the reasons why the federales changed the name of the holiday from Armistice to Veterans' (lest we forget). So, if you are a Colt, a Bronc or a Bomber and you served in the Armed Forces have a cool one of your choice and thank yourself for a job well done. I am still of the opinion that the guys and gals who were in Vietnam are probably still forgotten on this day except by others who were. 'nuff said. There are several people to mention; a wedding anniversary and four (count 'em 4) Bomber birthdays. First up, on this day some time ago, Jerry BOYD ('52) and Patsy McGREGOR ('54) got married. To the best of my knowledge, they still are. That is a good thing. Leading the birthday list is a Bomber Babe whom I have admired from afar for lo these many years: Bev COATES ('52). Then in graduation order come Jack SINDERSON ('53), Bob JOHNSON ('54) and Ted NETH ('55). A big flourish of the ol' propeller beanie and a "Happy Anniversary/Birthday!" to all concerned. -Bob Carlson, aka Mike CLOWES ('54) ~ Mount Angel, OR where Marion County voters said no to marijuana sales in unincorporated areas; but yes to taxing any that may take place in these areas. ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: Sara Ousley, aka Ann BISHOP ('56) My grandson is in the Army Guard and we have a running battle over who is the toughest. His instructors at AIT told them that they had "former Marines" who could not get through their training! They probably couldn't pass the Marine 'boot' so tried the Army! Grandson's unit will be leaving right after Christmas, stateside, then deploys in January for North Africa for at least a year. Maybe he will get some "smarts" while he is away! -Sara Ousley, aka Ann BISHOP ('56) ~ Fouke AR where it can't decide what season it is! ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: Diane AVEDOVECH ('56) Re: little humor My brother, Tim ('61), sent me a little humor to lighten the day a sometimes rarity in our culture - a good clean joke. Re: What's In A Name (Nurse humor) Do you remember the famous Olympic skier Picabo Street (pronounced Pee-Ka-Boo)? Well, Picabo is not just an athlete. She is now a nurse -- currently working in an Intensive Care Unit of a large metropolitan hospital. She is not permitted to answer the hospital telephones any longer. It caused too much confusion when she would answer the phone and say, Picabo, I.C.U. -Diane AVEDOVECH ('56) ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: Keith ARNDT ('60) Re: City 40 There is an interesting documentary on Netflix (and probably Facebook and You Tube) titled "City 40". It describes a "closed city" in the former Soviet Union that was/is involved in the production of radioactive materials, i.e., a city built and governed by the government for that purpose. While the restrictions on the residents are severe and radioactive contamination is rampant, you will notice a few similarities to our Richland in the '40s and '50s. Nothing is mentioned, however, about great high school basketball. -Keith ARNDT ('60) ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: Bob CROSS ('62) Re: Thank you veterans I would like to say THANK YOU to all the veterans for your service. Your service has help preserve this great nation and provided security to all Americans. -Bob CROSS ('62) ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: David RIVERS ('65) Re: Welcome Home and Thank You Today is a very special day... oh yes... we have a great Bomber celebrating his b-day, but it is the day when we thank all of our veterans... those who came home, those who did not and those who may have come home in body but not in spirit... To be honest, I cannot say enough about the debt we owe these brave men and women of all branches... several years ago, John ATKINS ('62) made a valiant effort to catalogue the names, ranks and service of as many Bombers as responded. It was incomplete, but not for lack of trying... as with many things, once the final product is complete you say... oh crap... in this case is was several beautiful panels with many of our names on it. I would like to take a moment here to thank John for a very good job... to all of my brother and sister Vets I say Thank You for your service... oh and not to overshadow a birthday lemme say HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Don ECKERT ('64) on your special day, November 11, 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -David RIVERS ('65) ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: Pam EHINGER (Blue Ribbon Class of '67) Re: Veterans' Day I want to thank all veterans!!
