The good news is that the Huskies are in the final four with a chance for the National Champeenship. They gotta get by 'Bama first. The bad news is that the Bombers lost to the (gasp) Papermakers from Camas. The other bad news is that The Tooter ('65) eggscaped from Luckenback (or whatever) TX, which means that he is more nor likely plotting his way to Olympia to crash yet another party. -Bob Carlson, aka Mike CLOWES ('54) ~ Mount Angel, OR where weather guessers are saying there might be a few snow flakes making it to the valley floor, but not sticking. ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: Steve CARSON (Championship Class of '58) Watched the State Championship game last night. Congratulations on an impressive season Bombers. You played well. -Steve CARSON (Championship Class of '58) ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: Marie RUPPERT Hartman ('63) I watched the 4A WA state championship on TV last night broadcast from the Tacoma Dome. The Bombers lost 14 to 24 against an amazingly strong Camas team. From what I saw the real difference in the outcome was the penalties that overwhelmed the Bombers. If not for that, the game might have had a different outcome. That said, I was glad to see the sportsmanship displayed after the game by our Bomber football team. Our young men could be seen actually congratulating the Camas players in the line as they passed each other. It made me proud to be a Bomber! They came up against a bigger team and played their hearts out. The Camas coach said the Bombers were the best team they had played all year. In the end, I would say that our young men won what really counts. -Marie RUPPERT Hartman ('63) ~ in windy and getting colder Richland ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: David RIVERS ('65) Re: 30 dayz has September er sumthin like that... I find since I turned 70 so long ago that I am totally losing my mind... yesterday (Saturday) I was convinced it was the 4th so I did my HB to Janine RIGHTMIRE ('65) with a huge smile on my face... and then this morning (Sunday) it was the 4th again... groundhog day or Deja Vu all over agin... I know you know I would never cheer for the "other" team... but the Richland Camas game reminded me of my second semester, Jr year... we moved to Camas... at the time I hardly had the idea I would end up spending my Sr year living in a boarding house in East Pasco (never occurred to me I was NOT zoned for Col- Hi... kids don't think about stuff like that)... there were three of us from "big" schools at Camas Hi... my buddy from a school in Vancouver, my girlfriend from Cal-Poly and me. We just naturally hung together and did our best to be outcasts and mysterious... when we danced, everyone would stop and watch as tho we were in some kind of movie... while I missed Richland I have to say I had the time of my life... I got to know Paul Revere and the Raiders, had a total "surfer girl" for a girl friend (my mom thought she should wear stuff that showed less cleavage... but I dug it) and pretty much just tore up the town... it was very much like a dream because we had so damned much fun and pretty much did as we pleased... had I lived there any longer I am sure consequences would have followed shortly... I cannot possibly know how the Sr Bombers felt at the loss (Sr Class not us old people)... to play your last game with such a result would be something else... Terry DAVIS ('65) and I spent some time talking about it today (Sunday)... I was the lucky one... after 9th grade Mommy dearest told me no football till my grades got better... I guess she thought I had goals and ambitions... hell all I wanted to do was drink, smoke, drive around, and chase girls... so that's what I did... Nancy MIDDLETON's ('67-RIP) mom signed my report cards my Sr year, I worked at Richland Bell and just hadda grand ol' time till grageashun when reality set in and boy did it set in! Well, I may not know what day it is but at least it ain't cuz a my drinkin'! Thank God! So another HB to JE and good going to our Bombers... we are always proud of you no matter what! -David RIVERS ('65) ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: John ZIMMER ('66) Re:A very Happy Birthday to Donna THORSON Whiteside I do not get to see her very often but she will always be in my thoughts. Donna caught up with me just before our 40 year reunion after she and Shirley COLLINS Haskins ('66) found out I was not "missing in action" through the Classmates website. Donna made it a point to meet me as I was coming to the lobby of the Red Lion and greeted me so warmly that it was almost like I had not missed all of those years. Donna, I wish you all of the best and on your special day, have a fantastic day. Always a friend, always a Bomber, always here for you whenever. -John ZIMMER ('66), Club 40 President ************************************************************* ************************************************************* >>From: Shirley COLLINGS Haskins ('66) Re: State Championship Football Game Richland fell to Camas 14-24 at the Tacoma Dome Saturday night, taking 2nd in the State. -Shirley COLLINGS Haskins ('66) ~ Richland where we have our first possible snow this week and temperatures dropping to 15° Tuesday night. ************************************************************* ************************************************************* That's it for today.
